Planning a vacation to Suriname and you have no idea what to even do? I’m here to help you by giving you this free itinerary!

The first thing you should ask yourself is what you want to get out of the trip. Are you traveling for the food, to learn more about the different cultures, to learn more about the history or to visit the beautiful interior? Depending on what you travel for, your itinerary will most likely change.

1. Travelling for food

If you’re travelling for food there are some places you can’t miss!

  1. Saoena Market (Javanese snacks & food)
  2. Kwatta Market
  3. Dim-sum cuisine (Johannes Mungrastreet next to the chinese hair salon)
  4. SoeNgie Oriental market (for some more dim-sum, veggies & different Chinese meats)
  5. Sarinah (indonesian restaurant)
  6. De Gadri (at Fort Zeelandia) for Surinamese dishes
  7. Joey-D’s (for some delicious bbq)
  8. Aloe Roti (for delicious indian food)

To see more food spots read my blog post about my favorite food spots in Suriname here:

2. History & culture

To learn more about Suriname’s history and the different cultures there are a few places to visit:

  1. Fort New Amsterdam (open air museum in the Commewijne district)
  2. Fort Zeelandia
  3. Joden Savanne (historic Jewish settlement in the Brokopondo district)
  4. The tourist info cabana at the begining of Waka Pasi

3. The interior

The interior is by far my most favorite thing about Suriname. There are so many beautiful places to visit and planning a trip yourself is easier than you think!

Disclaimer: most resorts do cook for you but you have to come with your own ingredients.

Here’s the link to the blog post that guides you through planning your own trip
