Let me start by saying, Trinidad is a beautiful island with amazing culture and people. However, it’s still a very much underrated travel destination.
In this blog post you’ll find a guide, as complete as I can write it, about where to stay, what to do, what to eat & who to contact.
I went without any plan or itinerary but with this guide, that doesn’t have to be you! Feel free to share this post with your travel buddies & contact me if you have any further questions!

Now let’s get into it!
Where to stay?
Lisa’s Airbnb
If you’re on a budget, you’ll absolutely love the Airbnb I stayed at. Lisa, the host, is incredibly warm and helpful, and she goes out of her way to ensure you have an amazing stay. Nestled in Port Of Spain, it’s conveniently close to Queen’s Park and downtown POS. Whether you prefer strolling around or not, everything in POS is just a short walk away, and if walking isn’t your thing, worry not – taxis and the TT rideshare service are readily available.
In my experience, this delightful neighborhood is a secure and peaceful haven, filled with warm-hearted locals and even a grocery store within walking distance to meet all your shopping needs.
Tip: message Lisa and ask to pay outside of Airbnb for a special price.

Terese’s place
Let me present to you Terese’s Airbnb!
Nestled in Diego Martin, just 5 to 10 minutes from the avenue, this is an absolutely amazing place to stay while you’re in Trinidad! My stay here was simply fantastic, as I could easily walk to the grocery store in just 3 minutes, and reach POS in about a 10-minute drive! The neighborhood is incredibly peaceful and charming, and with TTRS, the entire area becomes easily accessible!
The apartment has a fully operational kitchen complemented by a charming dining area, a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, and an additional cozy 2-person bed conveniently located just off the kitchen. It exudes cleanliness, warmth, and comfortably accommodates up to 4 people, making it a good option for a memorable stay.

Where to eat?
Let’s get into the good stuff! Trinidad has a lot to offer in terms of food. There’s a big variety from American franchises to Chinese & Indian food.
I put together a list of all the places I’ve been to (as far as I can remember). I went to a few local spots too so definitely ask some locals for advice & go out and explore once you’re in Trinidad.

- Toco Foodie Lovers Tour (with Zaak): this is a tour you absolutely have to go on! For only TT$450 (the USD exchange rate is roughly around 7) you get a full day of eating, sightseeing, history & culture. You’re on the move the entire day from 7AM untill 7PM. On the tour you visit 4 food spots, an ice cream shop & the Grand Riviere Chocolate Company where the last meal of the day awaits you (bake & shark from Majemoon Foods) alongside some delicious chocolate, coco tea & chocolate chow. - 139 Woodbrook Yard: Quan Kep’s Pork Shed for some amazing pork bowls & Jam n Juice for fresh juices and delicious smoothies. There are many more food spots here so definitely take a look.
- Uncle Sam’s (at Maracas beach): for bake & shark and bake & shrimp (these were my favorites but they do have more dishes that are delicious as well). The tamarind sauce is a definite MUST!
- Doubles: I had a lot of different doubles, but my favorites were the doubles we had before my Toco waterfall tour with RSJ Tours and Adventures. My advice would definitely be to ask a local where to get the best doubles. You would get different answers and that way you have a few options to try out.
- The Salty dog restaurant
- TGI Friday’s
- Lola’s Food Company: they aslo have AMAZING banana bread.
- Whipped: a restaurant at one woodbrook place that has mouth watering pizza’s!
- Eljo’s (on the avenue)
- KFC: trust me on this! You’re gonna want to try the KFC! One word: AMAZING!
- Movietowne POS: this is definitely a place you have to go to! there are A LOT of GOOD restaurants here to try! I went to a movie and after to Kaizan Sushi and was blown away!
- Buss up shut from Hosein’s Roti Shop (china town POS)

Where to go?
Trini nature reminds me so much of home. It looks so similar but is so different at the same time. At first it can be a bit difficult to find out where to go and who to go with. Lucky for you I found all that out myself and I’m here to share everything with you!
It should definitely be considered a sin to go to Trinidad and not go to some waterfalls & beaches. I already posted 2 blog post on my nature adventures but in case you missed them; for the best nature experiences, you have to book with:
